"Before starting at Platform, I often found it difficult in my drama lessons to interact with my peers and communicate my ideas clearly and coherently, meaning it was quite a struggle when devising and performing in groups. However, my teacher gave me the opportunity to volunteer at Platform Theatre Arts, where I began to assist in the leading and teaching of a group of young drama enthusiasts (age 11 to 18) as we worked together to put on various outstanding shows over the course of the year.

 

This not only fuelled my creativity and enhanced my confidence to lead but also aided younger students in feeling more able to perform in front of their peers and live audiences. After having been given this chance to explore what it is like to put on live, public shows, I am largely grateful to Platform for helping me find the fun in the art of theatre through useful and engaging warm-up games; games both beneficial to me and the younger students Platform supports as they test and improve the basic skills of acting and performing. 

 

Overall, I would highly recommend either joining or volunteering at Platform as it greatly aids your everyday life skills, such as confidence and clarity, whether it be contributing in class or your workplace or performing on stage.
